missbass79,

First of all, I am so sorry this message is so late getting to you.  I have been crazy busy with some family matters and have not been able to keep up to date on this website.  But I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!!  We are a friendly, caring group of moms always willing to listen and support.  Please feel free to jump in and join our conversations on the group page!!  We like to discuss everything from our sailors to our jobs, weather, whatever.  It's also a great place if you want to yell, scream, vent, cry - - there is no judgment involved!!!  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughters Naval careers and we are always there for each other!!!  Brag about your sailor but also tell us when you are hurting because you miss her so!!!  Looking forward to getting to know you and your sailor!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 10 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
I Hope you’ll come and join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page: https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms You may have to scroll down a ways to reach the comments but we’d love to get to know you and answer any questions or concerns you may have or just be a support from others who “get it”.

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

Boot Camp First Weeks Timeline(See Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for RTC.)

The last link is a good read and talks about what to do before your loved one leaves.

The First things First is one that another mom wrote and it deals with how Boot Camp is now due to COVID.

The Informed Delivery is a great tool as you can sign up with the post office and see what mail is coming in every day.

No question is ever dumb and someone will answer. Come and post on the Boot Camp Moms comment wall when you can.

God Bless and welcome again.   Big Hugs to you!!!!

There is also a moms of daughters group on this site. One is more active than the other but I can't locate it at the moment. I am sorry. You should be able to click on the flower image and post a comment on B'sNukeMoms' page and she will be able to give you the link.

Hello missbass79 - I am just taking a quick break from housecleaning but here is the link again for the BC Moms group. Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com)  Be sure to join that group and when you do, go to the main group page, scroll past the information, past the discussions and you will come to a Comment Wall area on the BC Mom group page. That is where you post a hello, introduce yourself and ask questions or just tell us how you are doing. More of the members will see your post there than even in the main room chat. Also, B'sNukeMom just posted the links for the April and May PIR groups as well. You may join one of those when you have a PIR date.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
