OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thanks. I'm really doing pretty well. Jon's been all over on mission trips, so I know he can handle himself away from home. What bugs me is not knowing things, like if he is the recruit command petty officer. He was going to volunteer if they called for one. I also want to know if he's in a performance division or honor guard. Want to know his grad date, etc. I've only lost it once. I opened the truck he drove all the time and his cologne wafted over me. I slammed the door quick and moved along. I'm anxious to see him mature and grow. I appreciate your comments and I'll call if I need to.

Hi "88," and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for 3-1/2 years.

I'm only an 18-month resident of the Hoosier State and have no idea where Rochester is, so I'll have to get out my map again! If you're near Indy (or willling to drive), there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon (on the west side of Indy) which meets on third Mondays. Click Mar 15 on the Events calendar (right-hand column) for those details. We're also discussing a future shopping trip to the Edinburgh outlet stores, so stay tuned!

The 8 weeks of bootcamp are tough for the sailor AND the mom, but they WILL pass! Just write as much as you can, keep telling him he can do it, and that you're proud of him and love him, no matter what happems. And if you attend PIR ("Pass In Review" = graduation), you'll be so proud that your chest will hurt!

Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.

Has he chosen MM, ET, or EM? Has he decided to try for surface or sub service?
