OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I have always considered myself internet and program savvy, until I logged on to this website! I don't know where I am, where to go,or how to get there! I'm sure I'll 'get it' the more time I spend on the site!

Oh my! I feel your pain...I got the same kinda letter last week! broke my heart. My son's PIR is 9/17 and that has been the only letter so far. He said how sorry he was and he felt like he let us down. He said that he could be coming home at any time. Well, it has been 5 weeks and he is still there. I think it is just the breaking them down process...they make them feel awful and like failures and the they lift them back up. It is all part of bc...hang in there...it will get better for him and you.

My son is in PIR-0910 and we continue to pray for him. I'm sure you know that God has a plan when we do not and there is something else that your son is destined to be a part of. He will probably be very upset, but comfort and encourage him as best you can. Let him know that he is not a failure in any way and that everyone is proud of him.
