THINGS CHANGE

Last night I posted that I had a call from my son and was told the the Denver was deploying as soon as they could prepare and all leaves were cancelled.  They were supposed to be on stand-by to evacuate over 1000 military dependants.  Approximately 4 hours later he called back to say don't cancel your flight just yet.  The Admiral said it would take too long to get the Denver ready so they are staying put and leaves are back on.  Yippee!!  Now if the airlines and government will allow me to…

Son is Deploying

Just had a call from my son.  He said the Denver is deploying to rescue the US citizens in the hot zone.  All leave has been cancelled and they were told to expect to be there for some time.  I could tell he was close to tears as I was crying too.  Now I know I won't be going to see him no matter what happens.  I was supposed to leave 30 days from today.

GOPACK - WAITING

Denise (Seabee Mom), Holy Cow.  Six years without seeing him.  Guess I shouldn't whine.  Even when my youngest was in for just 4 years we were able to see him about 3 times.  The oldest hasn't extended anywhere yet so we are always able to get together when he is in transfer from one side of the world to the other.  He had been talking about staying in Japan and retiring but not sure now.  I think if I had not planned on going there it would be about 5 years before I saw him again.  The hard…

Thanks

Thank you for the web sites and prayers.  This isn't the first time I have not seen my son for a long period as most of his time in service has been abroad.  The hardest part now is I was so close to being therre.  I know things can change and for all the people in Japan I pray every moment it does soon.  Thank you all.

3/15/11

First time on this site for me.  Years ago I was on for my youngest son who served on the Enterprise.  My oldest is career Navy and on his 2nd tour in Sasebo, Japan.  He is assigned to the Denver.  As of last Friday, 3/11, he was not being deployed as they had just returned from manuevers, but I have not heard from him since.  To all you new Navy moms........things change every minute for our loved ones.  I know you are all praying for them and the people of Japan.  I have a selfish prayer of… Continue
