Letter has arrived

When we got home tonight, Dalton's letter was waiting for me.  His PIR Date is Dec 02. He assured me he was OK and that he is looking forward to receiving our letters.  Of course, he had a few lines in there for Emilie (girlfriend) and I called her right away with the message :-)

Very glad to see his handwriting. So now we just need to start making reservations.  Each day that passes is a day sooner that we will see him!

Weekend getaway.

We are in Muskegon, Michigan camping on Lake Michigan. Just knowing that my son and all the other recruits are across Lake Michigan makes me feel a little bit closer. Even though Lake Michigan still separates us....just knowing is a bit of relief. It is a tad chilly. I check the weather everyday in Great Lakes just to know what weather they will have to endure. This weekend is going to be windy and rainy.

We both have already dropped letters in the mail.  Now just waiting on the form letter. I finally have slept six hours in the same night without waking up and crying.  Being a single parent all those… Continue

i Miss my son...

My son, Dalton, left for basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois on Wednesday, Oct 5.  I walk by his bedroom and all I do is cry.  I miss him terribly.  As a mom, we raise our children, protect them, be there for them, and right now I feel pretty useless. I received the five second phone call, "mom, it's me, I am here, I am safe, I love you, I have to go" and then nothing.  I realize after basic this will be better, but right now this is really hard.  I can only imagine the things he is going… Continue
