OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

** Admin speaks out on soliciting on N4M’s.**

Ladies, Gents…
In the past few weeks there has been a few events where people have talked about stories in which help is needed via donations of some sort. And knowing how big the N4M’s hearts are, many responded right away. After a debate with my team, we had decided this: we can't use this site for soliciting money or items. I am not saying these heartbreaking stories are fake- but how do I know if everyone that asks for money or items is telling the truth? I don’t. I can’t do background checks. That’s not what this site if for. I feel bad to put a damper on this- but from this point moving forward, this will be a strict rule.

If you want, you can make a private blog (for only you and your friends, if you want to spread the word).

I promise, in the end- I am trying to protect you mom (and your wallet).

Sincerely, Catherine

Agree completely Catherine. Perhaps we can create a blog in the Advice forum of difference services that are available to help our families in need.

Oh, KNQ- I just responded to you in a PM- I guess I will post it here also:

Oh, no Denise!
Oh, my! It wasn't just you had written something! I had three instances in the past few weeks! I feel really bad that you think it was just you! I had to write a general blog about it because when there is general rule going on in the community that's what I usually do.
I also, had some PM's to me asking if they could raise money on our site.I mention into my blog that I really had to look into this and debate about it with my team. When I wrote the blog- I only wrote it to make sure the entire community understood- like a quick blanket (for now, and in the future). Forgive me for upsetting/embarrassing you. That wasn't my intention. You bring so much to the site- You have impacted the women on here beyond this thread. You are a great woman! I know you were motivated when you wrote that thread, because you have a big heart! And I doubt the women on this site will think differently about you after this.
With my sincere apologies!
Catherine
