Ok, today she is on her way to Meps. Was wondering #1 what is the acronym mean? #2 What happens if she does not score high on her ASVAB? She took the practice tests and didn't score very well in Math, electricity and general science. Will they still let her in? What does she need to have to get in and on her way to BC? She wants to be in Media and Journalism, and I know there is a minimum score for this. She is excellent in English and writing and also has a great vocab. However, when she took the practice tests, she saw words she has never seen before and she is a major reader. Do they have a second chance to study and do better? How does it work with all that? Lots of questions. She is really setting her mind to this and knows she will be buckling down and studying hard if she gets another chance at the test. she really didn't have much time to prepare for this one.

Thank you in advance for your comments!

Meps stands for Military Entrance Processing Station. If there are other acronyms you aren't sure of look it up just to the right of the screen where it shows "Navy Speak." The better your daughter scores on the ASVAB the more selection of jobs that will be available to her. If she doesn't score well she can take the test again, but I believe she has to wait 30 days between tests. Therefore, the more she studies the better she will do. There are are all kinds of books with CD's and practice tests, not to mention she can practice on line to her hearts content.

You need to have patience, my daughter made several trips to MEPS before they had a job for her and then low and behold she had a job and was gone within 30 days. The military (all branches) definitely is hurry up and wait. When you think you have it figured out you will find out there is another delay, stall, or even OMG I need to be there now. Patience will come in very handy.
