For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

You won't know what his OFFICIAL PIR date is until you get that form letter. Before that it's just conjecture on your part. It'll be on a Friday. I know it makes it hard for families to organize travel. I would recommend getting refundable tickets. Stay positive. He starts to draw pay as soon as he starts boot camp - I just can't remember when his first pay check will come.

HHere is a sample of the form letter. Note the four highlighted areas. You'll get the "I am here" call first, then followed by the BOX (if he had his cell phone, look for it in his shoes). Thereafter the form letter will come.

Refundable tickets are really expensive, so if u can try to wait as long as u can before u buy ur tickets. This truly us a journey. Try not to stress at the beginning because u will not hear Nothing for the first 3 weeks.

i bought mine Sailor a silver watch - had to return it, because they can only wear black watches with their uniforms...got him one at the mall instead after graduation...

There is much to be said about the power of positive thinking. Have confidence that your daughter would do well. Sounds like low-fee changeable (not refundable) tickets is the way to go. Meant to say that.
