No, they won't tell you when he goes to the dentist, or even if he gets sick. He's an adult in the eyes of the Navy, so you won't be in the loop.
My son left on May 9, 2012. I received my first real phone call on June 2. Keep him in your prayers as we all will. I have had a very hard time adjusting w/ my son leaving. I have gotten 2 letters from him, plus the first form letter. This letter will give you all the information of his graduation date, address, and everything else important. You will get a box w/ his civilian clothes and shoes and important paperwork w/in the first week. I didn't know anything about this, and when I saw it I was so excited that James sent me something and when I opened it - all I did was cry. I am telling you this so you know what to expect. I am counting down until his graduation date, and it's only 3 weeks away instead of 8. The first real phone call can come anytime and it should say "pay phone" if you have caller id on your house phone. I hope I have helped a little bit. Belonging to this group will help very much, cuz you are not alone. God bless.
My son is on his second week at bootcamp, I lost a son in 2009. Im so worried about my son that is in bootcamp. Can anyone tell me what he may be doing this week. I just want to know that he is ok.
Hi amy,
How are you doing? Can't believe it's been 4 days. I have been trying to stay busy as possible, but the evenings are the hardest. I finally ate a little something last night. My stomache is all tied up in knots, just that sick feeling. I lost like 3-4lbs just in the last week from not eating. My doctor would not be happy. I have been lighting a candle ever day. I'm going to do this untill it;s time to leave for his graduation. I will need to get more candles about 50 more. I will see you at the party tonight.
