OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Random News...Random Things... Admin Update

News-ish stuff:

(1) We have a new masthead. heh. No more "Dove Soap" Looking moms.

(2) Also, update on the political/hot topic forum... A N4M's member has kindly offered to help me write the ground rules for it (so give us a day or so to hammer it out).

(3) Swag... I think I posted something yesterday, but the proposal for N4M swag is being finalized and sent in this week to our Navy Contacts.

Okay- 2 things I am noticing...

(1) Picture uploading. Please go back through your photos that you uploaded and make sure they have some kind of title and/or caption. The question we all ask is what are we looking at and why? :) If you see me not accept your content... and you wonder why, refer back to this blog:

(2) We're getting a little random with the categories. These are the categories:

Now if you started a thread and now realize, it's better in another section then it's easy to change it.

Go to the Discussion Detail page and beneath the title of your post you will see a “Change” link. Clicking on this will display a drop down menu where you can edit the Category of your Discussion.

A question about the pictures. There are 3 places on my page. In the left column you can click on pictures (right by dicussions). then you do get the Heading.

However, in the middle column, under the web site link there are two seperate places for pictures. Have I done something wrong? There seems to be 2 pics, then when you scroll down under that there are the pictures again that are listed in the left column that you have to click on, but now they do not have a heading. (title, caption) Have I made a boo-boo?

Hey CCR: You made no mistakes :) You just uploaded your photos in two different ways (the slide show above was approve by me... and above that wasn't. It just depends how you want to present them. Both are fine though :)

I miss the Dove moms! I think when we made it to PIR, we would all magically be transformed into one of them!

I watched the first hour of Homecoming last night and cried thru most of it. Took me back to my Navy wife days...standing on the Pier in anticipation of seeing my husband after many months of sea.

Must watch the last hour today - I'm sure it is a tear jerker!

I am enjoying the series, we taped it to and are trying to watch it this weekend. I think it would be great for every DEP family to watch together. Wish it was on before our son left, nothing that it would change his decision but it would have been nice to watch it as a family.
