OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is 3 weeks away from PIR- Couple hints - Keep your phone on you at all times- calls are rewards for a job well done and can come at any time. They can receive letters daily, but they can only send out on Sundays.Don't send letters in colored envelopes, or very thick ones- it's a red flag and the instructors will open them- I print a bunch of pictures on 1 page of printer paper to include with my letter. My son loves letters with pictures and song lyrics- I enlisted some younger friends to help with that. Treasure every word- It's amazing how the tone of the letters change over time!
