Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'm still pretty sad and haven't gone a day without crying. I never leave my phone. I carry it everywhere with me just in case I get a call.
I try not to hope for a call or letter each day but I still do. So thankful I have my 20 & 17 y/o daughters as well as my loving husband to see when I'm staring out into space in my sad mom thoughts and pull me out of it.

Dawneee5, I know it is hard when they go to BC. Lots of emotions are running through you. Just remind yourself that this is what they wanted. They are safe and well taken care of. I know we go weeks without hearing from them but they are learning the "Navy Way" of life. I kept my phone with me at all times because you never know when that call will come in. I received letters on Thursday each week. My daughter is my youngest and is now in Jacksonville, FL at her 1st duty station. Her PIR was the end of May and her graduation from A School was Nov 13th. She was home for 10 days (left the Monday before Thanksgiving) before she went to FL.
PIR will be amazing! Lots to look forward to. Enjoy your journey your son is taking you on. It really is amazing and it's like nothing I have ever experienced. So Proud!
Must say though, the "See you laters" don't seem to get easier. I can't stand them.

Your recruit would have had holiday routine for the first time today and was able to write. Any letters he wrote will go out in tomorrow's mail, so you should get a "real" letter later this week. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

Tomorrow is my two weeks I'm getting better I think me writing my Sr everyday helps me I feel like I'm talking to my baby I wish I could here his voice or read a letter at least
