For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

44 Days.....

Countdown: 44 Days till Boot Camp

So, I suppose its time to begin facing the fact that soon my baby will be leaving for the U.S. Navy. Up till now, I've basically tried to keep my mind busy learning new things about boot camp, A-School, and Nuke School. If I keep busy, I don't have to face that he really is leaving soon.... ahhhh.... the tears.

So, here are the plans at this point:

Sept 3rd (Labor Day):

Stevie is to report to the NRS Stillwater office at noon. They will do a urine test, get his paperwork ready to take to MEPS and most likely take some time to talk to us and reassure me!!

Then, the family will head to OKC and check in to the Sheraton MWC (the official hotel for all military being processed). We will then head to an early dinner and spend some good, quality time with Stevie. I've read on my Navy Moms groups that I should take lots of pics during this time and send them to him while at BC. So... lots of pics to be taken, hopefully some laughs will happen. I want it to be about him knowing how much we love and support him and not make it a sad "good-bye" kind of time. We will get him back in and to bed early, as he will be spending the next 24-36 hours up/awake/on his feet at boot camp processing in.

Sept 4th: Ship Date

Stevie is to wake up at 4:30am and head to MEPS via shuttle to complete his processing. As I understand it, this included resigning his contract, drug tests, other "paperwork" type stuff. Then he will swear in again, this time as an active duty enlisted Navy recruit. I'm sure there will be lots and lots of tears, pics and video and hugs and "I love you's". He will then wait for the transport shuttle to take him to the airport and will fly out to Great Lakes, IL for 8-9 weeks of Boot Camp.
