Just found out in my letter that I won't be able to spend time with my girlfriend. If I am lucky I get to spend 16 hrs with her. 16 hrs for 700 Dollars. Sit in a car for 28 hrs, spend at least 700 dollars, get to see your girlfriend, for 16 Priceless.

I know it is hard, but this is one of the most important days of her life, like graduating high school, college, getting married, or having a baby. It is so good you are willing to be supportive and spend those few hours with her just to show her how much you love her, support her, and have her back. Those will be 16 hours she will carry with her into A-school and will get her through some difficult times. It is probably the thought of those hours that is what she is holding onto during the tough times of boot camp. There are many moms and family members on this site who would give their right arms to have the opportunity to have that 16 hours with their family member. Some of them can't afford it, one mom recently had to choose between her daughter's high school graduation and her son's PIR, one grandfather tried to hold onto life just to make it to his grandchild's graduation but couldn't. You are blessed because you can go. You are right the gift you are giving your girlfriend is priceless. It seems frustrating right now, but you have a whole lifetime ahead of you. My son leaves for boot camp in September. I live 11 hours from the Great Lakes. I am in a wheel chair and have lots of problems with mobility. My son is my only child and I am an only child and both my parents have gone home to be with the Lord. I pray every day that I will find a way to make it to PIR. I'd sit in that car for 50 hours, pay whatever it took, I just want to be there for my son and experience that special time with him. I hope this will help you see this in a different way. Celebrate your opportunity to be together.
