"Anticipation is making me wait." That was Heinz ketchup, right? That's how I feel about the days. Yesterday darling daughter met with the Recruiting Station Chief since she is in her 90-day countdown. She is visiting with friends now because it will be quite awhile before she can do it again. This week she is with a very good friend who is a Navy wife. I think she will come home with renewed energy and zeal which will help her get through the waiting game. Working retail during Christmas, although difficult, will help the time pass too.
Dad seems to be taking all of this waiting in stride. I think he will have a more difficult time when she leaves than I will. They are pretty close and have lots in common: they are both hockey goalies, ride motorcycles and watch sports together. The mom/daughter commonalities are work (we work together), pedicures and movies.
Still thinking of gifts for Christmas. Maybe a Kindle/Nook, definitely a patron saint medal (hers is Our Lady of Loretto), massage - her suggestion and a last hair cut before leaving for GL. Oh, and her Bon Voyage party! It is scheduled just over 2 weeks before her ship date. She wants to make sure any of her friends who will be home from college for the holidays will be able to attend. I hope they do.
