OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

A school graduation?? To go or not to go??
OK, now I don't know what to do.
For a while I was sure I'd go to my son's A school graduation.
Then, it started to seem like it was not a very big event and I wondered how son would feel about me coming.
Now, talking to hubby, he says to go if I want....I can use points for the flight and hotel. We're really being financially careful now since he started his business back up, so I do not want to be frivolous.
I wonder how many parents go to A school graduations.
Will he be given leave after A school? He was just home for Christmas.
He has to go to NH for 2 weeks in April for a lovely part of his training and then on to Tinker AFB. I don't know what happens between now and then......how to decide???

A school grad is short and sweet. Emphasis on short. The school likes to know if visitors will be there, so they can do a little ceremony. LOL, we got certificates while standing in the hall, but they have fancied it up a little since then.
You can figure out how many days he has on the books. He earns leave from day one at 2.5 each month. Christmas leave used up 5.6 (round up to 6) months. Figure out how long he's been active duty and subtract six. Then multiply by 2.5 and you will know how many days he has. They usually get leave after A school, unless they don't have any days to use.

Thank you for the thoughts on the question.
I guess I knew it would be short, but did not want to miss anything if possible. On the other hand, also did not want to go there for a few minutes and be a bother if my son was going to be too busy and worry about not being able to spend time with me. I don't want to do anything to throw him off either. :)

Yep, I am going to talk to him about it. Knowing him, he would like me/us there. He does have his CRV there, so we would have transportation. I know of friends who have gotten pics from other parents who went. I also have been told that if they know there will be visitors that they make it a little more special. I had a friend on N4M who got me photos when my son graduated NACCS. It was sooooo nice to see that handsome smiling face, especially cute in the flight suit, too. My son would be ok about me taking photos, but I KNOW he would NEVER ask anyone to take a picture of him to send to us.

Debbie - that would make sense. Lynch's A school is only maybe 6 weeks??? If I understand what I read, it sounds like his next training will be much, much longer. I was hoping he'd end up in Sicily, but maybe in the future. :)

Thanks April....Lynch's grad will be on a Tuesday, so that throws out the weekend with him that I was hoping for long ago. :) I'm still torn and need to make up my mind pretty soon since it's less than a week away. I did not hear back from him yet, but h e is probably in class now. I'm going to call him tonight. His dad is only like 6 hours away but is not going. If I were that close I'd drive over in a heartbeat. But, I'm in Ohio...so driving would be a pain. I'd love to share this little memory with him.

I am so sad....I kind of decided that I was not going to go to Lynch's grad and then he starts texting me about what time I should plan to arrive, etc.....I felt he was wanting me to be there. i started to plan, very last minute and then hubby stepped on and broke my glasses. I don't have a spare pair, I'm out of contacts and need to get a new exam before they will sell me new contacts......But....he was also going to have duty on Tuesday, the day of the grad....so I would not get a lot of time with him. I tried not to cry, but couldn't help it. He was sweet and told me that it was ok and that it didn't change how much I loved him. Which made me actually feel worse, lol.....but I didn't tell him that. We decided that I would come down for a weekend before he leaves for SERE in April. Now, I just have to do some studying to see how I can make a weekend extra special for us.
