Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son finished 14 day quarantine yesterday...still no word. I received his landed in Chicago call but now radio silence. Can anyone help ease this anxious mom’s mind? Thank you!

CindyLouWho - I don't know how closely you have been following the discussion in the comments section of BC Mom - but if I am recalling, for the most part there have been very few calls home when they move from ROM to RTC. So the radio silence is still there and the form letter has been coming around 3 - 4 weeks even. Some have received letters that their SRs were able to write in ROM and then mail out but those are also not the norm.
The Norm - "No News is Good News!!" As hard as it is to hold on to that, that is what you need to do. It is training for us as much as anything. My sailor is currently out in the Atlantic someplace - He has not been able to communicate with us. I do have some other means of getting a notion that all is okay, but not directly from my sailor. That is the same for you.
This is not much, I know, but it is the best that we can do. Other than to give you BNH (Big Navy Hugs!!)

It is hard and scary when you are alone at sea so to speak, but there are those who have been there and are happy to help show you the way so that it's not so hard. Welcome to the fleet.
