Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is currently assigned to the Enterprise and I am looking to connect with anyone who has someone onboard. He is assigned to the deck department.
My son is also on the USS Enterprise. He was on the flight deck as a weight board operator but now he is training for port security. Not what he wanted but he said they had to fill a billet and that's where he put him. Anyone else in that situation. Not really understanding the whole billet thing.
Unfortunately I understand it all to well, when you first go into the Navy if you are not given a school after boot camp then you go through Appreticeship training then you are sent out into the fleet as Undesignated Seaman every base and ship have allotments of so many billets for those undesignated seaman to fill so they can basically put you anywhere they want. I was sent to a overseas duty for my first assignment and assigned to suppy department that is when I was allowed to convert to Airman but I was used all over the Supply Depart....
Anyone attending the Tiger Cruise???
Thank you for clarifying that for me. My son did go in undesignated even though he was warned not to by a friend. Unfortunately, he just was not sure of what job he wanted yet. The sad thing is he was qualified to go AD and was just getting ready to test for it. Now I don't think he can. He is now in the port security academy, I guess it could be worse. At least he is out of the intense heat on the flight deck. We are counting the days until their return home. So proud that he is apart of a little history on the last deployment of the USS Enterprise. Wish I could go on that Tiger cruise.

Kathy, this list along w the list of groups associated with Ratings and PIR dates can be found by going to MAIN tab, look in the middle column for the featured discussions. I am kinda "retired" since my son is out of the Navy - it would be great if you can keep where these list are in mind and pass the info along.
