My daughter left a week ago and just got the first form letter. It told me her address and graduation date. I was reading the letter and at the bottom she wrote me a note. She said the first 2 days in her words sucked and she was sick because of missing us, but she said she is ok. So just remember they will get though this I carry my cell phone every where. I also went out and brought a calling card so she can call my cell phone. Tomorrow is her Birthday she will be 19. I know she will never forget this one. Just remember he will be ok they will take care of him.

When did he leave for boot camp? Gabby's mom

When all else fails and you can't find the information you want, do what I do - track down Anti M, Denise (A Seabee Mom), Craig, Lady Hamilton.  :)

Relax - you in good company - meaning we're all suffering w you (definitely tongue-in-cheek).

well, thank you all we do not feel so alone now, although we are expecting a letter and can not wait till we get it. we got his cloths in today.  thank you for the the new groups to join.  we will check them out.  i  went by the recruiting office to get our stickers and he was telling me also that the calls depended on several things so we should not get too excited.  I also went gro. shoping the other day and picking up everything he would like and had to put some stuff back although the hot Cheeto's are going to graduation.  it is his fav.   thank you all and i am sure they are doing great!!

Yeah, it's all good advice.  Join groups that are involved with your SR's PIR date.  The eight weeks might seem really long (as it did for me), but really, it's only eight weeks and it will fly for your recruit.  My understanding is that the first few days of boot camp totally suck and everyone want to go home.  The next few weeks are rough.  At about the mid-point, the recruits get their shi+ together and start functioning as a team.  And then they start having some fun.  The loved one you see at PIR is a very different person than the one you saw 2 months prior. It was absolutely the best experience I've had as a Mom.  After boot camp, they can have cell phones and computers, so keeping in contact is much easier.    Please remember, in the big scheme of things, eight weeks is short.
