Depends on how bad it is. My friend fractured his shin in boot camp, and he stayed in.

Right. We have seen it go both ways - wishing him well. We know how hard it is to be so close to graduate and have something like this happen.

My daughters friend is graduating soon from boot camp. He got sick and was in the hospital for several days. The hospital let him use a computer and he was actually on facebook one day. We were shocked to see him on there. And I think one of the nurses may have let him use her cell phone. They were very nice to him. He got better and is still in and will graduate a little late but at least he is better and still going to graduate. Good luck with your son. I know how hard it must be for you. Lala

In his 5th week of BC, my son had a stress fracture to his ankle; he was sent to RCU on April 20. And after just 2 weeks, he was released back to training. He is in a different division now, but has a new PIR date so we at least have something to go on. They took good care of him in RCU, physical therapy 2x day, Bible study, group therapy, although lots of down time & he was bored. I got one phone call when he first moved to RCU & another one the day he was released. And he got to call the night before Mothers Day. So, I have heard very little; he is horrible about writing letters, so I get a little crazy sometimes too.
Most people have said to just keep sending letters & encourage him. What I love about these young kids is that they heal up pretty quickly. He may only be in RCU a couple of weeks.
My son's original PIR date was the 14th, this past Friday. :-( It was a hard day for me but I do know now that he has a new PIR date so once again have something to look forward to.
