My letter came today as well. Ship 11 Div189 for my daughter
Jinkymp, I left info for you on your My Page.
Lucky's mom, I left info for you on your My Page.
Cmom16, your time will come. I also left info for you on your My Page.
My son left for boot camp from Boise, Idaho on March 23rd. I had one very brief phone call the night he got to boot comp. I received his box of clothing and personal items about 7-10 days after he left. I received a letter with his mailing address, his list of guests (4 people allowed), and information about travel, and vehicle pass code. Today I received an actual hand written letter from him. I was so excited. He is feeling down, lack of sleep, physical exhaustion, and screaming and yelling, all part of what I expected. I believe the first 4 weeks are the hardest and expected that to be the "breaking down" phase. He said the only really good news was he was passing and had passed his swim test. I wrote him back already and mailed it, giving him encouragement and support. We talked about all of this before he left, as many in our family have been in the military including my husband. I just told him it was a normal part of the process and that I believed in him, to believe in himself and he will get through it. It's hard to balance "mom" emotions with logical expectations sometimes. So although I know this is how boot camp is designed to be, and didn't expect anything different, it still made me tear up a bit and wish I could talk to him. I have not received a phone call yet. I was really hoping and thinking that it would have been yesterday as we are on week 3 as of yesterday. I am traveling to Chicago Ohare on May 19th, going to try to book a room at the Red Carpet Inn which is only 1.5 miles from the Naval graduation. I am getting a rental car from Chicago, Ohare and driving to the motel. I just can't wait to see him!
Forgot to mention my sons graduation date is 5/20, he is Ship 14 DIV 194.
