Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bootcamp - 72 hours since arrival
Erin has been in GL for 72 hours.The first 1 1/2 days I just felt numb. I was afraid if I let myself cry I would not stop. I was consumed with worry about how tired she must be after that first 30 hours of no sleep. I felt so guilty when I woke up that first morning knowing I had slept ok, she probably didn't sleep at all. I started writing to her. And revisited the posts here with information about the first few days of bootcamp. I connected with 4 other moms, so far, who have sent their daughters to GL the same day as mine. Today I have read posts of mom's who's child left on the 14th have already received their 'box'. I have seen posts from recruits who arrived a week before mine and they are getting their form letters!! I have gone from numb to sad and lonely to very excited. I know her box will probably arrive on Monday and maybe the form letter by the end of the week?? And most excited to find out if our girls are in the same division!
So, I am holding on to this excitement. It feels way better than the loneliness.

I understand all of your feelings completely. I was feeling the same way in the first few days. I have not been able to visit this Navyformoms site as often as I would like to, however, so many have offered so much advice and answered questions. A huge help! If I could I would stay on here all day. I hope that these weeks to come will go quickly for us :) I hope you have a good Sunday.
