Call from son that he changed divisions separated from navy for medical reasons...what does this exactly mean

Hi All,

I've been keeping myself so busy but missing my son so much.  He called and left a voicemail last Aug 13.

In his brief phone call he said that he has been moved to a new division and that he has been separated from the navy due to medical reasons.

What exactly does this mean?  Is he being sent home? or is he injured and just waiting to start after recovery?

Is there any way for us to contact RTC to find out more info?

Thanks so much!

I am sorry that you missed his call, but you would not have been able to talk to him and would have received the same message since it is pretty much a scripted call. Yes, since he used the words "separated from the navy," then that means he is being separated and sent home. No, you should not contact RTC; because of various privacy laws, they would not be able to give you info or even verify where he is. You can check with his recruiter to see what address is in the system for him if you want to do that--Ship 5 is SEPS and Ship 4 is the RCU. Only your son can tell you what happened unless he signs the paperwork for you to speak with medical and/or legal. I left info on your My Page that includes links that may help to answer your questions.
