While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Christmas at Boot Camp

Hi there! Merry Christmas to everyone!

My son entered Boot Camp on November 22. He is in division 083. I had hoped for a call at Christmas, but alas, did not get one. It's not like it was promised or anything, I just miss him and had hoped for one.

So, what did they do on Christmas at Boot Camp? I can't seem to find much. I don't think he is far enough along to be part of the Adopt-A-Sailor group. Did they have a full/regular day? Did he get or do anything special? I'm just a Mom and I miss him. I'm so proud of him, but this is all so new.

There is a blog post in Leaving for boot camp in December. I am new to this so I don't know how to link it here. It is by Arwen and tells what they did on Christmas.

Comment by Anti M on December 29, 2018 at 2:30pm: I spent Christmas in boot camp a long, long time ago. It is holiday routine, the same as on a Sunday. The chow hall does a fantastic dinner for them, and they have the chance to go to church, the services of their choice. They are all together, so it is not like they are entirely alone.

Comment by ElizabethE on December 29, 2018 at 7:58pm: Hey, Melissa - my son is in DIV 084, so yours and mine are in brother divisions and train together. I, too, had hoped there might be a Christmas phone call, but I can understand why a big deal isn't made of the day. Treating Christmas like a somewhat regular day probably decreases homesickness and because it's one more day of boot camp, it's one less day they'll be out of touch!
