Ok, so I am confused. Maybe I am in the minority but I can't understand feelings that some moms have about their kids joining the Navy. I just read a post about the 5 stages of Boot Camp and frankly the first 4 seem odd.

When our son told us he was joining the Navy, I was so proud. I still am. I guess my only concern now is where his A-school will be!

Go Navy!

How I missed the date when I read about the subs in the same post, I don't know.  Anyway, join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in September.

I agree with you Bunker. I think Kelly would really help in the "Advise" and "Mis-Conceptions" of Navy Life sections, but also as a general Rover as you have been Bunker. Kelly, your experience and knowledge are wanted and needed here. I'm sure it's safe to say that I can speak for more than just myself.

ebigirl,

Don't you mean GENERAL Rover?

Bunker,

I stand corrected! LOL Yes, of course I meant GENERAL Rover. Where on earth did my protocol and good manners go when I typed that?  :-)

Love ya Bunker....

I to feel different than most. My son is 22 and my youngest just started college last week and I'm so excited for both of them that I don't feel sad! And I was worried that all around me think i'm not acting as they expected ! I want my sons to be successful and reach for the moon and try new things. Life is short and I want them to have new experiences and not settle for the nor in life until it calls them!! I'm proud of there choices and can't wait to share in their experiences!! Go Navy!!!

I dont feel that you were putting anyone down.  I too felt  that way in the beginning UNTIL he left for boot camp.

For me it is not being able to talk to him for so long.  I cannot believe how I looked forward to every Wed. (mail day) .  There is no right or wrong way to feel.  Everyone is a individual thats what makes this site and sites like these to valuable.  Good Luck
