I was posting on FB the number of days left until my baby (20 Years) old leaves...she asked me to stop...So I did..It runs through my mind everyday though.

I am so proud of her. She leaves May 15th for Basic...I sure would like to meet some more Mom's out there from the Arkansas area who have kids going into the Navy soon.

Just help in what to expect...

Hi Carol,

My dear 21 yr daughter leaves May 14th. She will turn 22 in bootcamp :( We are SOOOO proud of her and today I started back to the gym w her. She isn't quite ready to leave yet (physically) but is getting there. She told me today not to tell her how many days til she leaves because it just stresses her out.

I found a fabulous day-by-day account of bootcamp here:

http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

which of course, made me cry (just like everything these days!)

Keep in touch! Carrie

Thank you all for writing me back. My FB is http://facebook.com/channa1

Hi Carrie, Sherri and Caroline (That is my Mom's name)

It is nice to see so many other Mom's going through the same emotions. I try not to cry in front of my Sarah!..It is hard though..I was told we had to leave her at the Navy recruiting station in Rogers and that would be our last goodbye until she calls to let us know she made it OK. Oh Lord! I am going to need something that day to control the nerves. My Sarah is getting ready for bootcamp too. They have PT once a week here and she is just on the border with the weight!...Though Praise the Lord she did not get my Gene's...I look at Cake and gain weight. I know she will be OK, it is the letting go that makes me sad. I can not even listen to the Navy Song or watch a Navy Commercial without tears coming to my eyes. Sarah is going to be a Corpsman or whatever that is. She wants to be assigned to one of the Mercy ships...That is just like her..Always wanting to heal the world...Sarah is also ready to go. At the same time, my oldest with my granchildren are moving back to Atlanta GA...I have a strong husband and his family is like my own, so I know they are going to be there, however, it is so wonderful to see you all respond to me! It is a true Patriot who will give their time in the Service of our Country...We all have a LOT to be proud of....Our children are the future leaders! How wonderful is that! :) Off to church...Much Love and prayers for all your children! :)

My daughter recently graduated from RTC a few weeks ago... She also became stressed with me counting the days. So I stopped and became extremely strong infront of her.. In my room I would cry.. :) what our children go threw in Bootcamp is very hard. And they try to mentally prepare before going. Try to make this time good. Throw a party! We did a "see you soon future sailor" party. She loved it and became emotional when she thanked everyone for coming.
