Hi Lulu My name is Nanci and my son leaves for BC on July 2. My youngest of 3 and the only one to go down the military road. I have been counting down the days just like my son is only his is from excitement and my from dread. Don't get me wrong I am so very proud of his decision but just not looking forward to the empty house and him being so far away.  I look forward to hearing from you and going through this with all the other mom's out there. This site has been a blessing for me. I learn more here than anything my son can tell me that he gets from DEP. My son turns 18 in April so we plan on having a big party for that and then again a bar-b-que in late June before he leaves. Going to make all his favorites and take lots of pics. I will keep you and your daughter in my thoughts. Keep good thoughts and enjoy your time left.

Lulu; It is perfectly normal to experience the feelings that your are feeling and will feel during your daughter's naval experience. My only child was in bootcamp at this time last year, and I thought I was going to lose my mind. Those 8 weeks were the longest 8 weeks of my life.

Enjoy the time that you have left before your daughter leaves for bc. This site was a godsend for me, and I was glued to it the entire time my son was in bc. Your daughter will be taken care of and very safe while she is in bc. You will be amazed at the transformations the Navy is able to make in those 8 weeks.

If your on the fence about attending PIR (graduation), please go. I was in total awe during the entire ceremony. Not only was I one proud parent, I also found myself feeling very proud to be an American. The pomp and circumstances and the fantastic job that RTC does putting these weekly ceremonies together is very inspiring.

There are tons of groups you can join on this site. At the top of the screen there is a "groups" app. Click on that and you will find any/all groups that you can think of. Welcome and congratulations.  :-)
