My daughter has a little over 10 years in the Navy. She came home on leave just before Thanksgiving for a family renunion. It was the first time she had been home in 8 years. I usually go to her. This time we planned for her to be here and then I was to fly back and spend 6 weeks with her.

She had been here no more than a few days when the information network let us know that a call had come in and they were reporting her UA. Not much we could do from out here. We flew back on December 1. It was another solid week of rumors before her Commander called her in and told her they were not rumors. Somehow orders had never shown up for her to report for an IA duty station. Apparently she was supposed to report with here primary for training. No one told her and she never received orders. So now with orders in hand and it being December 8 we were faced with 25 NKO courses, doctor appointments, the expense of purchasing all she would need for a 10 month deployment to somewhere in Afghanistan.

They had wanted her to leave on the 28th of December. Her Commander had pushed it back to February 8.
Then we found out her orders were incomplete. There were no uniform size order sheets. We new this because a friend had recently returned from an IA. My daughter took it upon herself to call the 1st place she was to report and a soldier e-mailed her the forms.

So, with many shots and appointments done in a few days we went to PSD. We were told they were getting ready to stop her pay because of being reported UA.

I sincerely hope this is all staightened out and UA never shows up on her records again.

Meanwhile, she must complete all the NKO courses. So what happens. Her senior chief calls her in and says he has decided to put her up for Sailor of the Quarter. So there goes 2 more days at the base. Mind you this has all happened on her leave of which they took 1 week back. He decided this the day before the boards. He promised that she would not have to compete for Sailor of the Year because she had so much to do to get ready to go. Yesterday she was told she was to be ready for Sailor of the Year.

All this doesn't sound so bad. It's just she was on leave. She will not be able to complete the 2 classes she needs for her AA. She has not been able to study for the chief test happening today. Because of all this she may be unable to drop her Officer package.

I'm worried about the stress this has put on her. To top it all off, she had to give up a week of her leave to do a turnover. She runs a 11 million dollar program. During this week she also will sit boards for BJOTQ.

As of now she is trying to make her civilian boss, her Commander, her Senior Chief happy and fullfill the orders she has for her deployement.

I might add that being nominated for Sailor of the quarter is an honor and she got it.

So the reason for my title? I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this sort of mess. Any advice about chasing paper work on UAs that are bogus would be appreciated.

In closing, I would seek your prayers for my girl and know mine are with all of you and yours.
