Our story.........This is my one and only daughter(my lil Princess), she left for bootcamp on March 15th. Her PIR is 5/13. When she graduated high school she went to college(in Illinois) for 2 years on a full ride volleyball scholarship, she also was a cheerleader there as well. She loves loves loves volleyball, but when you get on college level you need height. She was an outside hitter mainly and a setter. Anyway after her 2 years she didn't get picked up by any other schools.(this made her feel somewhat as a failure, i feel. That was her life plan). I tried to get her to go to Nursing school or back into college but she didnt want to. So she came back home and went to work, she had gained her CNA license in high school. so she went work at nursing home, which she lovesss old people, they were all her babies. Got her own apartment, and was doing really well. She got to a point where it wasnt enough and she wanted a change. Well me, her Momma, was in the Navy. I did 4 years in Navy and 4 years in Missouri National Gaurd. I actually had her in the Navy, so just did my time and got out. So needless to say i started talking to her about going in and finally she did it. I am so proud of her. I hope she chooses to make it a career, but if she dont thats fine too. There are so many benefits from being in the military, so it a win- win deal. Oh, and her rate is Yeoman, so she goes to Meridian, Mississippi after this.(as long as she makes it).Btw she cut all her hair off before she went into bootcamp, i freaked out lol. " Ship 03 Division 184". Hoorah. One proud Momma.
Priscilla, I left info for you on your My Page.
thank you Proudmexicanmom
Hello,
Your daughter will be just fine. I believe it helps if they've had some work experience and interaction with people, prior to entering the Navy. My son graduated boot camp April 1st. I am so proud of him!! At least you can tell her what to expect since you are a veteran. Thanks for serving!
This is true, and thank you Sue, for your kind words.
