Daughter leaves for BootCamp - Mother is depressed !!

My daughter just left yesterday for Lansing and then today for bootcamp... my heart is so broken and shattered. I am so depressed right now i am not sure how i am going to survive this. I know that she is on the bigger and better things and i am so very proud of her but how do parents get over this..... i am usually a very strong person but this has just blown me away, i cant seem to stop crying.

Hang in there, My son left one week ago. I cried when I said good-bye then cried for a solid 2 hours. Everyday gets a little easier.  But I still cry when a certain song comes on the radio or like today when I got the "kid box" and I thought there would be a form letter in there with his address but there wasn't and I got upset all over again.  It's like anything big.  You just have to put one foot in front of the other and keep going.  I have started to write letters to my son and this actually helps me because I work very hard to keep them upbeat and funny so it puts me in a good mood.  I think that is what is the most important.  When your child calls, keep it upbeat.  When you write, keep it upbeat.  They know we miss them, they miss us too and have so much stress right now I think the last thing they need from us is to feel bad that we are so depressed.  It's hard but then again what part of being a mom isn't.  Use this website it really is wonderful. There are lots of us mom's in the same boat as you and even more that have already been through it and have wonderful advise. Keep busy and stay strong and proud.

My sailor (my only child) graduated on 6/29 and I am sitting here reading the posts and I can say...that these next weeks will be the hardest thing you ever had to go through. I cried...every day and I still cry (the tears just come). It's a roller coaster of emotions...especially with each step (the box...the form letter...the first call..etc.), but believe me....it will be so worth it the moment you see her in her uniform and you can put your arms around her. The mom's on this site understand exactly what you are going through...and we all know it's not easy. So if you have to cry...it's ok. If you need to vent...we're here for you. I couldn't have gone through b/c without this support of this site. Start writing letters now...and as soon as you receive her address send one a day and tell her how proud you are of her. I send you a huge hug!

Sqraham & other new moms, please use the crying towel issued with your membership approval by Navy For Moms admins. What? You don't have one? Oh My God. They ran out, again. Just wonder around this site. Visit the groups - like Boot Camp Moms, New Members Stop Here. Those ladies buy stuff like that in bulk. They are also very good at give out (((Navy Hugs))).

Take care.

BQB (retired Nuke officer mom).

P.S. Denise (retired Seabee Mom) and I will be kicking back, our feet will be up on the coffee table, eating bon-bons, having a glass of wine and watching ???  hmmm  what should we watch, now that we all this time on our hands?
