Daughter went to bootcamp today 4-10-13

I'm new to this site and hoping to hear back from other mom's that have daughters in the Navy.  Mine left for bootcamp just today.  I have so many emotions and so many questions.  What is bootcamp going to be like for her?  Is it 24/7?  Will she be ok?  Will she be safe?  Would love to hear feedback....

Hi- I just joined this today and am learning to navigate the different groups and discussions. It is actually my son who just enlisted (YESTERDAY) and will go to Boot Camp in October. I know that you were looking for moms of daughters but I thought I would at least drop you a line and say hi! I am sure that you must be having a hard day and I can relate because I am freaking out about this entire process! I am thinking that this group will help all of us through this scary time! Just know that there are people who care about you even if we are strangers! Be strong!

mlh, Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left today and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and you will also want cehck out OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) since there are at least 2 changes you need to make, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

smhYou may wish to join the group, Leavin' for bootcamp in October or October Boot Camp Family. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.

navymom21, I see you have joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); you may also want to join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. The other info I gave mlh above also applies to you.

Hi ladies! My son left for boot camp last october. When we saw him at graduation, he said "P" days sucked! (processing days) which are the first 3-5 days. I remember feeling awful that first night, first few days. So start praying now, Pray for comfort for yourself and strength for them. I am not trying to scare you--I just remember feeling terrible and then later finding out the first days were terrible for him. The best thing that got me through was to remember "no news is good news" and it is very very true!. If something goes wrong--they get sick or hurt, you'll get a phone call. If you hear nothing--it means they are doing what they are supposed to do and learning and working hard. The navy does take care of them, I personally hated hearing that, but it is true.

Please ask me questions, or friend me if you'd like. It helps me to share my stuff with others.....
