You will get used to the new normal and things will be better for you.

You may wish to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in December, to connect with others with loved ones who may be leaving the same day/week and may have PIR with your Future Sailor.

You may want to check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvKAhmgkoj4 and http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433. They will give you an idea of what will soon be happening.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.

I saw your blog and felt for you, your son will do great. My son just graduated from Boot Camp. It is hard not being able to call them and just talk. When you get his official letter with his address start writing him , my son said the letters and pictures is what kept him going. Hang in there , thinking about you.  Shirley   I wrote this once do not think it went through hope you do not get it twice

Dixon, CA!  We are in the same time zone - almost neighbors. Haha. I am in Santa Clara County. Bay area. Been thru Dixon many times. See your son is going to be a submariner. My son was on a sub.

wow that is cool, when was your son in the navy or is he still in.  My son is in Groton waiting to start sub school. Waiting to hear from him, it is hard. thanks for writing.

My son is finished. He did his 5 years (nuke officer on a sub). He came home in April. Found a job and settling nicely in the East Bay. I am a lucky momma to have seen him for Thanksgiving the first time since 2006. Please continue to drop in and post comments. We need more participants because oldies like me are going to be retreating into the background more and more. Besides, it means much to the newbies to hear the info from someone who has just been to PIR or A school.  Join the Boot Camp Moms and the current PIR groups.

You'll find the Sub Moms group has some real informed veterans - you'll be asking lots of questions. If you are worried about your son living on a sub - you can put your mind at ease a bit. My son said it was not that bad and you are soooooo busy - don't have time to complain - but of course, nukes/sub guys take complaining to a fine art.

Comment by shirl on December 5, 2012 at 1:45am

thanks, I am not worried about him living on a sub,  he really wants this hope he passes everything.  I will join the sub group also, thought I would wait till he gets on a sub. that is funny what you said about complaining .
