I think about you every single day
Wonder then pray that you’re well,
and doing better than just “okay”.
I know I need to let go
be happy and say I’m swell,
stand back and let you grow.
Baby, I am so happy, so proud and excited for you!
to start this new chapter, a grand adventure!
and damn if I don’t believe in you too!
Becoming a great man, starting anew.
Yet all that aside
I can’t stop the tears falling from my eyes.
Everywhere I see a memory of you.
From birth til the day that you left.
A babe in my arms fighting for your life
looking into your sweetest little brown eyes.
singing to you endless lullabies.
Your loud proud joyful laugh
The family joker yet serious debater.
I keep hearing you softly play your guitar
I keep looking for you when I need to run an errand
Cause you were the one that always drove with me.
and Lord! Your smile I constantly see.
Sure there was rough times
when I wanted to kick your teenage behind
but you always made it better
usually in the sweetest manner.
And after dinner when all is quiet and everyone goes their separate ways
I will hear your voice as you always would say, ” thank you mom. That was good.”
I will wonder what you’re eating now
and how your day has gone.
Then I quietly pray that you're feeling strong.
I had you for 18 years in my house.
and loved you way before that.
I prayed for a son to love and hold
and God gave me you as I have often told.
I never could imagine my life without you
and I hope you know I did the best I could through and through.
I hope and pray I raised you right
looking at the man you have become I believe I did.
So now I must say goodbye
and let this crazy world see my son’s amazing light!
I unconditionally love you
and am so proud.
I want to thank you for you who are
and for lighting up my life.
You are greatly missed.
-mom
