Well its been a very long time since posting on here! My son is soon to deploy to the middle east and I am not ready!!! My heart is breaking and I don't know how to deal with this impending year!! The worse part is he is in training and we understood he would get a week leave between training and deployment....however we have since learned he may not get any leave at all! That means it will be over a year til I see him again!!! How can this be?? Why would the military not want a young man to see his family before being sent so far away?? I hope and pray this changes!!

Denise,

We are not sure yet if he will get leave but its about the timing. He is in a four week training at Ft. Dix, NJ and this week is all about processing so his actual training does'nt start til next week and he is scheduled to leave May 4th. So i think that eliminates the possibilty of a leave. I am so hoping it will change as he has only been in Ft. Dix since Sat. so I guess it could change. I am preaparing myself for the chance he won't get leave at all!

Thanks everyone for your comments! I was having a difficult day when I posted this post. I have since talked to Fleet and family services and feel better about things. He may not get leave before deployment but he will get leave part way into his deployment year. He is in New Jersey and we are in Louisiana so a weekend visit is not possible. He is not allowed visits at this time that I am aware of anyway. We will get through this by the grace of God! This is his first assignment since joining and it has just been hard. Thanks again for the responses!!
