Wow..
My Seth left for BC April 3rd, and I admit, he has always been a mommas boy! And when he was here, out of school, sitting in his room with the door closed playing video games until 3am, then sleeping until 4pm the next day, I never thought that being without him was going to be so DIFFICULT. I love all of my kids equally, but him and I have always had this sort of "connection" and could read each others minds almost. Now, when I come home and I am the only one there...I can physically feel the "emptiness" of the house. Strange, but I guess it is time to cut the apron strings, no matter how bad i just want him to just appear and hug my neck..it will be a while. I am SO VERY PROUD that he chose to grow into a man in this way!
I am new to this site, but feel already that it will be a fantastic outlet and source for anything Navy! Please, hug everyone of your boys/girls the next time you see them...for me and my family and make sure they know there are so many people out here, supporting thier efforts and praying for them every single day!
I see from a comment elsewhere that you have received his address and I hope the form letter. Join the group for his PIR date, which is most likely 05/31/2103, PIR 05/31/2013 TG 29 - 10 Divisions (205-212, 811 and 929) (clickable link). If that is not the correct group go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and click on the correct date.
Things will get better and you will get used to the new normal for you. Once he is out of BC, he will be able to contact you more often and that will also help. We raise them to leave and follow their own dreams and this is his.
Bluewater,
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left that day and may have PIR together.
You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

Both of you will be amazed by the men your sailors will become. My son went in Dec 2011 right out of high school. It was a long 12 years getting him through school. Now he is doing amazing things in the Navy. His dad and I couldn't have predicted this and how very proud of him we are. Every time we see him, we see a more of a man and less of a child. Enjoy the journey and best of luck!
Hi CindyLou333,
My son left on 4/19/13 and I miss him terribly. It is been harder on me than I have ever imagined, cutting that apron string. When I received his clothes in the mail the other day I cried again! I am so very proud of him and I am so looking forward to the man that I will be seeing at graduation.
Ronnies mom, I thought your SR arrived a week ago, on the 12th. This journey does tend to lead to confusion at times. (I didn't want someone thinking you got the box the next day, which is possible for someone in the GL area, but not if the SR arrived on a Friday since FedEx doesn't deliver on Saturday.)
cindylou333, I'm glad to help. I'm sorry you have missed the calls.
Lemonelephant you are correct....my SR did leave on the 12th! Sorry for the confusion! :0
:o)
