My baby girl shipped out one week ago today.  I miss her like crazy but am so proud of her choice and her dedication.  She has known for over a year what she wanted to do and she followed thru.

Have been researching the PIR and was disappointed to see that only 3 to 4 guests can attend since she has 2 sister and 2 brothers plus her Dad, me, neices, nephews and her brother and sister in law.  It will be her choice who attends but since I intend to visit while she is in A-school I hope she includes her sister, little brother and her Dad.  Hopefully they can afford to get there.  I know her little brother will be able to because I will make sure of it.

Waiting for that first letter has been hard but I know that she is busy and I know that she is doing great. But she is my baby girl so I am worried no matter what.  That is my job.  To always worry but make sure that she never sees my doubt or my tears.  Others have gotten to deal with the tears but she told me if Mom cries then I know that something is not right so I held them in until today when the reality of where she is and that she is really growing up and spreading her wings into this new adventure hit me right between the eyes.

Maybe I will have her read the posts that I make her after a while but most likely I will just make sure she knows that I love her and that I know that she can do everything and anything that she puts her mind to.

I thank God for our youth like her who have chosen to help protect this great nation that we live in and pray for each and every one.

I am in a situation that I will need to depend on others to take me to PIR...I am disabled and do not drive. Currently going through a divorce which complicates further. I know my son will want both parents there but that will most likely leave out one of the siblings who transports me. Tough situation. Let the tears come...they cleanse your soul mamma...we've got to give our kids roots and wings but it doesn't mean it's not a very hard thing to do! Knowing he's doing ok will make it easier....stalking my mailman every day till the form letter comes.

You will receive your letter soon, what I did was put a note pad out everytime I would think or have something to say i would write it down when I got to 2 or 3 pages I would put it in an envelope and start again. writing what ever.  As soon as I received the letter I sent mine ready and prepared, my son was so happy to receive all the letters and I just continued to do that still to this day and it has been 18 mo also you can send pics.

You should be getting the form letter by the end of the week or next week--10 days after arrival is average. At least those who aren't on the Access List will be able to watch the Live Stream as it is happening.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in July, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

You may also want to check out Mom’s of Navy Daughters, Mom's of Daughters 2, and Women in the Navy.

Jordan'Mom, That is very tough in terms of getting there to see him.  I hope that it works out well in the end and will be thinking of you.  I can't imagine the stress that you are dealing with.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I have cried now but not in front of my kids.  My poor boyfreind who is my shoulder to cry on is dripping but I know how much my other kids miss their sister and since I have always been the strong one I have to stand tall.

Taylorsmom, Thank you for the idea.  I am so busy between work, kids, grandkids that I was having a hard time figuring out when I would be able to write to her.  This is a wonderful idea so that my thoughts can be partially organized ahead of time.  I think she will be inundated with letters but they will all be so important.
