My son left May 2nd for GL and I received one short phone call. I was glad that I knew he arrived safe but now its May 7th and no word is so tough on me. I had a very rough night last night and just wait by a phone & check mail everyday. Any good advise?

The only reason i know his ship and his address is because his recruiter got it for me. To be honest you most likley wont hear from him for two or three weeks. Start writing everyday until you do get his address, it helps a lot. And just stay positive! He is doing a great thing not only for himself but also his country. And you need to stay strong for him, and when you do talk to him its going to be hard but try not to cry and just tell him how proud of him you are!

Good luck!

gabby, Ship 298 is not possible. We are only up to the 230's to 240's. Those in Ship 2 are in a 900 division, so 932 or 933 are possible given the date he arrived at the RTC. Wait on the form letter because you have been given inaccurate info. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) and since may you very well have a recruit in a 900 division, check out 800 and 900 Divisions within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I invite you to join that group while you are there and check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well. (Each of those is a clickable link.)

That is what his recruiter told me it was....

It would not be the first time that a recruiter got the address wrong. DON'T send any letters until you get the form letter.  See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

I have been waiting to hear from my son who left on May 2. I received "The Box" but no address. I hope it arrives soon. I miss him so much.

well i just talked to his recruiter on the phone, and she is the one at has the ability to look up his information with his social #, and that is what his address is in the system.

don't send letters until receive form letter

RTC HAS ASKED that people don't use the recruiter given address. this has been the case for a few years now.

Comment by chelseacat on May 7, 2013 at 8:48pm

Sometimes the form letter will have a different address. I would wait for the form letter before you send. RTC will do their best to distribute mail. I wrote my BF's name wrong on tons of letters. :p I was only writing his last name and middle initial without his first name. Lucky for me, he was the only person with his last name in all of BC, so he still got those letters. If you have the ship wrong it may take a few extra days to weeks to get to your loved one.
