Gift idea for someone that has a child leaving for Boot Camp. :)

I am a new Navy Aunt…. My niece is a SR (Ship 12 Div 010). This is just an idea if you have a sister or other loved one, or even your own child that is leaving for boot camp. Before my niece left for boot camp,  I had her a ~Navy Party~ (as my 5 year old son called it)…. With gifts and games and stuff. My sister was being very strong for her, but  her heart was heavy because of the idea of being separated from her daughter for the first time and the unknown of what boot camp entails. So, along with gifts for my SR…. I made my sister a *Navy Moms Survival Guide* -  I typed up a positive little something that she would have to write down or do each day my niece was away for boot camp. Something small like…. 1. Write down 10 qualities in her that makes this a good life choice for her, or 2. Write down your favorite memory the days before she left,  or 3. Write down 5 things you want to remember to tell her at graduation. I also included a folder in the binder of pages I typed,  so her activity some days would be to find a favorite picture and put it in the folder or buy her a card and put it in the folder. That way she had something positive and good to reflect on each day and it reminded her of all the reasons my niece made this choice and why she was strong enough to make it!  Then if she was having  bad day she could go back and real all her positive entries.

It has seemed to help my sister and she said that when she  does her activity each day, it reminds her of all the things they did to get ready and how much thought and preparation  my niece had put in to making this choice. J Just an idea……. I am glad I did this for my sister!!

Be Safe All!
