I was told that when we go to the graudation we should sit in the color of the ship our SR is in..so my question is how do we find out what that color is? I looked at the chart of the training center and see color coded buildings...is this the ship color I look for?? Just want to be in the best area to see my baby...I mean Sailor.. anxious Mom.

did you post this question in the group please click on link and post your question blogs are good but groups are much better to get your questions answered
There will be a sign with the division number--there are no colors (sometimes those in the PIR groups choose to wear a particular color to help them find each other, more for the Meet and Greet, but some do it for PIR as well). Sit near that sign. PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within , Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will give you more information. I suggest that you also join that group while you are there and check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members). There will be a lot of information and support for you in both groups.
What will your SR's rating (job/specialty) be? Knowing that will help you to know how to plan your weekend based on if your Sailor will stay in GL or fly out. There are also groups for most of the "A" Schools and/or ratings.
Julie, There are no tickets; it is names on the Access List, but yes, your recruit will only be able to put 3 or 4 guests on the Access List depending on the size of the TG. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp and http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide_v14Mar2013.pdf. No, there is nowhere for extras to wait at the RTC. They will be asked to return to the vehicle or leave the RTC, so extras should wait at the hotel. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend for more on that.
You are very welcome. Please check your profile page.
Yeah!!!! At work and husband texted me that we had received letters today from our son, spoke to him on Saturday of last week and received letters today, on cloud nine!!! Reading all these questions and answers is really helping me plan our trip to Chicago for PIR on 5/17/13. Good luck to all you moms, hope you got letters today also, (and dads).
Sphinx, what are you not believing?
If it is that they "should sit in the color of the ship our SR is in," then I agree, that is just plain wrong.
Perhaps you are talking about a "division color" to wear? This is not something that is done by the RTC or your recruits it has been done by the "moms" within the same divisions. Some of the past PIRs division "moms" have decided to wear the same color to PIR and the Meet and Greet to recognize each other. This is strictly something that the "moms" have decided to do within their division group and has nothing to do with PIR or the RTC.
