Hello...anyone...

I'm looking for more information on class/school processes. I've read the information on this site and it's been great, but I'm stuck after BESS. My Son completed BESS and is doing TCNO but won't share any info... he keeps reminding me he signed a NDR. I can't get an address to send him anything and I know he is going to be in CT for another 14-28 weeks. I went to visit him in August (the week of his 21st birthday) and spent a day with him, shopping and eating. I was scouting for a family trip to visit him with all his siblings, but my other son left for the AF this month... so I'm just on here trying to figure out a possible timeline of events and visits to the two boys. I'll keep trying and researching.

Hi Julia,

I noticed that you have posted in a couple of places, I don't know if you have posted in the Submoms group or not. You might get more activity there.

I am not certain of what an NDR is other than maybe a non-disclosure report. You might need to remind your sailor, via text that you are his only outside life-line. And he is the only way that you will receive any information. My sailor will tell me what his travel plans are, he will tell me when his ship is going out but I don't reveal that to others. He can also be vague with you but give you a general ballpark of dates and information without specifics that should not negate his NDR or whatever that he signed. You might ask him to explain exactly what that means.

If he wants to receive packages or anything while his sub is out to sea, then he needs to connect you with his ship's ombudsman, he needs to let them know it is okay to contact you in the case of an emergency.

He can give you as little or as much information as he chooses, so you have to help him see that for the benefit of all involved, making sure momma stays informed to the limit he is able, is the best all around scenario for all.

I realize I am not giving you any answers, my son did not do subs, but I hope that you get what information you are looking for and can help him realize that no one else not even the ombudsmen will tell you. If he is not married with a wife that would be expecting the same consideration of information, then momma by tradition is next in line as next of kin and expects to be notified with how to reach her sailor or others to reach her in the case of an emergency.
