Holiday Question for our Maryland, Virginia, and DC Moms

Hi Moms-

Just wondering if you or any other local N4M's are planning on hosting a Sailor for the holidays, or planning on ‘giving back’ in other ways in your hometown. If so, Elle S. and I would love to talk to you! Please let us know what you are up to! :) CC

Yvonne and I have sailors (soldiers and marines too) over to the house every weekend. Christmas Day depends on who is in the area and is interested in coming over. In years past we've had a Christmas party for all of the guys and girls involved in our fellowship prior to their going on leave. That includes food, a small gift exchange, and reading the Christmas story together. Last year we had about a dozen here. We went caroling around our neighborhood!

Probably the highlight of the evening is when we light the candles on our Christmas tree (an old German custom). None of the servicemena nd women that have been here have ever seen that, and always oooo and ahhhh!

John and Yvonne, I have been reading your postings over time and just want to say...I hope our sailor gets stationed close to you because I know there would always be a welcome mat for those in need.

Thank you for opening your home up to our military members.

Hello! We're outside of Austin, Texas. My son is in Norfolk and won't actually be here on Christmas day; however, he does have leave beginning December 31 through January 11th. He called me recently and asked if he could bring a fellow sailor with him. I said "of COURSE!!!!" I'm really excited to see, of course, my son but we also intend to welcome my son's friend into our family. We will have our Christmas with my son, and his friend, when they arrive!
