My Navy girl, my daughter called the other day very home sick crying. We have not seen her for almost a year. I decided that it would be a lot easier if I came up with something creative.

I bought a couple of watches and I decided to syncronize them to beep every 5 hours. I send her a note saying that every time her watch goes off, mine will go off at the same time. I told her to close her eyes, at that very momment my eyes will be closing too. I will be thinking of her happy thoughts as she will be doing the same thing too. I think that this idea will help her a lot and it will help me as well. I hope this will help others like it helped us. God bless..!

This is so sweet! I am in the same position as your daughter.
I'm on sea duty really far away from my mom and dad and I haven't seen my them in a year. I get extremely homesick sometimes where all I feel up to is crying. What a great idea about the watches! The next time I have a chance to talk to my mom I'm going to suggest this :)
How long has your daughter been in? and what's her rate?
God Bless you guys!

Great idea about the watch:) I sent my navy girl a bronze sextant to look at the stars with... I taught her to use it when she was young and she has used it all her life when we have been apart. She was beside herself when she saw it in her first care package from home..it has helped a great deal; now she uses it on her carrier:) Good luck and God bless all our sailors:)

This is such a great idea and a sweet sentiment! It warms my heart. My seabee daughter is deployed now too. I will be sending her a watch in the very near future synchronized to my own.

Are there any Navy Mom's whose son or daughter is getting ready for RLP or who has gone RLP?

Thanks for all that posted. My girl left 2 weeks and 4 days ago for BC. This post made me ball my eyes out, which has been building up for days. I feel silly, am I overreacting, an emotional wreck, probably! But on the other hand so proud of the young lady I raised to know her own mind, to make a decision and stick to it when ALL her friends tried to talk her out of it, or just stopped talking to her altogether while she spent her summer training for BC. I hope it was worth it!

I miss her like crazy, the house is too quiet.

Peace to all,

Merry Christmas
