So I just got a call from my boyfriend and he told me that he is being allowed to make a new list of guests for his graduation. He told me that he had put me on this new list with his family. How will I know if I have actually been put on the list? Is there some official "something" that I am supposed to receive? It would be a shame to fly all the way out there just to find out that I cannot attend....So my overall question is how in the world do I know that I am actually allowed to attend his graduation based on this "new list"? Thanks ahead of time :)

CALL HIS PARENTS and ask them

It is your SR who will write down the names to be put on the Access List 10 to 14 days before PIR. If HE told you that he is putting you on the Access List, then he is. You say he is your boyfriend, so I don't think he would be playing some kind of sick joke on you and tell you that you will be on the Access List and then have you have to leave the RTC when he didn't put your name down after all.  Even if he put different names on the form letter, he can change his mind and put different names down when it is time to submit the names for the Access List. I would think that he also would have let his parents know that he is going to include you as one of the 3 or 4 people that he is able to write down for the Access List.

When is PIR? Go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. I also invite you to join or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and discussions there.

No, you will not receive anything official letting you know you are on the list. His parents probably received the form letter and it included the password needed to get the vehicle/gate pass. If you plan to drivve onto the RTC separately from his parents, you will need the password to download the vehicle/gate pass or one of his parents will need to print one for you, but if you are riding with them or taking a taxi or shuttle, you will just need current photo ID at the gate and again in the Visitors Center where your ID will be compared to the names your SR submitted before you will be allowed to proceed to the Drill Hall for PIR as one of his guests.

My form letter just had dad written on one line and nothng else. I agree the real deal will be turned in up there. Verify during phone calls or by letter.

It's time to have a pow wow with his family. They may have ideas on how he should spend his time after PIR. Coordinating with them is your best approach. Everyone will want face time w him. HE may just want to sit and chill. Work w his family, so everyone is on the same page. If YOU get a call or letter from him, share it with his family - they'll love you for the gesture.

AsYouWish<333, your SR is the one who puts the names down. If you trust what he told you, then you will not be turned back at the Visitors Center because your name will be on the Access List to attend PIR as one of his 3 or 4 guests. He hopefully would have let his parents know who he is writing down as well as telling you, but he may or may not have written to them to let them know. There is only one form letter and the names on the form letter are not always the names that end up on the Access List for all kinds of reasons. If you plan to have a future with this young man, it would be a very good idea to coordinate things with his family. Hopefully he has also let them know who he is inviting to PIR. There will be time on Liberty that you will need to be sharing with them.

I invite you again to join the groups I previously mentioned.
