IMPORTANT: Revised Community Guidelines and Policies!

Updated 10 July 2009
Message from Rear Admiral Robin Braun

N4M Members,

As I mentioned in my previous message, we have been conducting a very thorough review of the Community Guidelines to ensure we continue to provide our members the most rewarding experience possible while respecting the freedoms our Sailors serve to protect.

As you know, the purpose of NAVYForMoms.com is to bring together Navy parents and the parents of recruiting-age young men and women to discuss the multitude of leadership, training, and career opportunities our Navy offers and the great pride Navy parents have in their children. NAVYForMoms.com exists to allow families an open forum to discuss what life in the Navy is really like.

Today, I am pleased to announce the completion of this review and the adoption of new Community Guidelines for the NAVYForMoms.com website.

The goal of the new Guidelines is to facilitate open discussion without compromising the purpose of the website, namely the exchange of information relating to service in the Navy. As I noted in my previous message, your personal freedoms are extremely important to the Navy and my hope is that these updated Guidelines provide the best possible balance between the defense of those liberties and the integrity of the website.

I encourage everyone to review the revised Community Guidelines and to become familiar with acceptable use on the NAVYForMoms.com website. The new Community Guidelines may be reviewed here.

I would like to draw your attention to the discussion of off-topic posts and the need to keep discourse civil. These rules are intended to ensure that members get the quick and useful answers to their Navy-related questions in the friendly and collegial atmosphere that has come to define NAVYForMoms.com.

Please know that NAVYForMoms members’ suggestions played a critical part in the revision of the Guidelines, and we will continue to rely on your honest feedback as we strive to provide the best possible user experience.

As always, I would like to thank you for your continued support of the Navy family and our men and women who serve our great nation.

Rear Admiral Robin Braun, USN
Commander
Navy Recruiting Command

Hey, Inga...I'll thank you for removing a post or two and cleaning the place up!! even if it wasn't related to me, I appreciate your good sense!!

oh, beer bread is the best!! It's a big hit here in Austin at any catering gig, several caterers=several recipes, I'd take a new one. share privately if you prefer...

of course she knows who you're talking about and the post we're referring to...cute games are just so much more fun...aren't they? well as a mom who had untrue posts about her sailor posted and thankfully removed from many of the blogs/threads around (altho not all, as we well know...cute games, etc) I am very thankful that you removed that post with even the very slight inference of anti Navy policy in it, Inga. It seems you are the adult in that situation.

Weird that this 'stopped following"....Kathleen Reynolds Northern, I wasn't referring to anyone named KK's blog...I was referring to yours.

Mary, do have any recipes for pistachio cookies? I know there is alot of butter, but I don't know the prep for the pistachios...they held up really well when I shipped them, a friend made them for my son.

well, we're pretty even on that score...hanging out with folks that expect to lead me around by the nose isn't anything I do...and ya'll are just so cute with the Spider Web stuff...but way behind the times, that was elementary school...but then... so are those blogs with that "how many slimy nasty filthy words can we put in one paragraph" thing ....altho we're all curious...which one are you? "KK" or "KK2"?

inquiring minds you know...

and as ever, you have to bring in personal names, and my son...just to be the person we've know you to be, I guess. WOW...you pulled it off!! now everyone knows...I bet your God is proud of you.

The One I was raised to honor and love, probably not so much....

I thanked you pages back, Kathleen Reynolds Northern, was that not sufficient, or is this something we're required to do at each posting? please state your rules, if you're in charge!

You want to be thanked continually and repeatedly...got it.

and if I don't do what you want? that is classified as an attack? and then you threaten me? Because, Ms. Northern, that was clearly a threat.

A real blog by really smart women...with rational real comments by thinking people...it's an amazing concept....

you may go back to talking about cookies now.

Kathleen Reynolds Northern wrote: TDM, you started it with your posting. What's the matter? Can't take turnabout? I don't post on that site; I have a full time job, and have enough on my plate with my own website and political campaigning. Lest you forget, I am a Republican Committee member. We're in the middle of several election campaigns, and I do not have time for your vileness. But, when you launch an attack, be prepared for what you get. BTW, you're welcome.snide and deragatory? posting lies about a sailor on a public blog and leaving them there? what's that? or reducing this particular blog to a recipe box when its topic doesn't meet your standards or cater to you, what's that?

Issuing threats...yeah, lady, ya did.....you don't like not being in charge, you brag frequently on your temper and how tough you are...How's that Republican committee post going? you guys having fun plotting the disrupton of town halls filled with American citizens trying to learn from their Congressmen about the health care legislation? it's running true to form, Republicans do not like an educated public, ignorant and one issue is the voter they love. I'll share that with the families of the brain injured sitting, waiting for help for their loved ones when the insurance companies dump them because "the state will take care of them" by putting them on a shelf and walking away. I'll see a group today, and believe me, that's the main topic of conversation. But I'm sure you folks are too busy with fighting to make sure some Americans don't have the right to marry, or making sure those insurance companies and the government make decisions about a woman's personal life. I mean, somebody has to do it.. why would folks like your party care about brain injured teens and adults, they'll never vote....what would the world do without the party of "NO"? Those clips on TV, it will become the typical view of the Republican party "loud mouth, disruptive and rude, screeching NO..." during a meeting of concerned adult American voters... that's what people will remember out of this ploy. Watching it backfire is really quite fun...

and like it or not the good Lord loves Democrats, too...boy, I bet that really gets you goin', now doesn't it?

have a nice day...plotting...stay tuned folks, let's see what happens next...I'm quaking in my chair here.

yes, Kathleen Reynolds Northern, turnabout is fair play. You too, will live with the old "what goes around comes around..." we all do...the rest of us just accept it, try to live our lives to build good karma, to take care of others, to allow others to go about THEIR business, and make sure that those without have the opportunity to things like food, health care, the right to marry whoever they love....you, evidently, view "turnabout" or karma as a way to be vengeful and have "your" way.

I always have such pity for people like you, so intent on hate and hating others who do not think like you or live their lives by your rules, so you have to make your threats, or start rambling on about praying for them. I just don't believe the good Lord puts serious thought into answering the prayers of people who work so hard to keep the poor poor, the sick without care, the hungry going to bed without a meal, children without medical attention...it's sad that people rationalize out all the bad and evil they do right before bedtime by saying "I prayed for ______" just fill in the blank for the prayer of the day.

Which town hall are you going to go scream your brains out at? will you be on TV? let us know, we'll have a cyber TV night, just like the inauguration !

Yes, I agree...my God is a loving God, he loves every human being, every creature drawing a breath on this great Earth He created, even those that the self righteous slander and ridicule...and those who make poor choices in their lives but go on to live good, productive, loving lives. The God I was taught and raised with is a loving God, not the wrathful Republican one...

things to do, lost doggie to find a place for...you have a nice day, now, hear?
