My sailor completed the Dep guide PQS, passed the written test while @ recruit training command and passed the PT-Baseline with a SAT-MED as stated by the advanced paygrade requirements. She was told by her ICC that she passed the test and had been promoted to E-2. She was not given any paperwork but was allowed to have the rank put on her dress uniform for graduation. She was sent to A-school where noone could give her any information. When she arrived at her permanent duty station, no information can be found to verify her status. I have called MEPS in Kansas city, her recruiter in Manhattan, kansas and it apperars that noone can assist me. I think it is beyond wrong for a sailor to be treated like this. Military personnel put their lives on the line everyday to keep our country safe but it appears that once they are recruited their is no assistance out there to correct situations like this. My sailor is so tired of the entire situation that she has decided to not pursue this earned rank (E-2) and pay. She is willing to just accept E-2 when she is promotable (she should be a E-3 @ that time). I think it is wrong, she worked and studied hard to pass that test and deserves this rank and pay. I hear the disapointment in her voice each day and it hurts me as much as her. My sailor is a young adult (18 y/o) and does not want to cause any problems or draw negative attention to herself so as a mom I feel that I am obligated to assist her. Has this happened with your sailor or anyone you know? Can anyone please tell me how to get the situation resolved? She has earned this rank and I want to fight for her to receive it.
Thanks for your assistance,
Navy Mom Imogene
