Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's Been Awhile, but I'm BACK!!!
Well, the last time I blogged was when I was talking about attending the commissioning ceremony for my son's ship, USS America in San Francisco.
My husband and I went to the commissioning ceremony, and we had a WONDERFUL time!!! First we went sightseeing. I always wanted to go to Madame Tussaud's museum, and we went there. Took tons of pictures! The ceremony was beautiful and so many people attended from all around the country. While we were walking down the pier, my son was stopped by people thinking him for his service to the country. My son felt awkward at first until he met a Vietnam Vet who talked to him when we were at Jack in the Box waiting for our food. My son felt that was the coolest thing ever. My son was stopped by two women at different times and given gift cards to a coffee shops there. Also they thanked him for his service. My son spent all day with us until late and my son had to get back to the ship. I didn't want to leave him because the last time I saw him, he came home the same day my father died. I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I really enjoyed my visit to San Francisco, and looking forward to my trip to San Diego soon. Not sure when my husband & I will be making the trip there, but I'll be writing about it!! :-) This pic was taken the day before the commissioning ceremony.
