OK navy moms wives and girlfriends i have a bit of an issue. my sailor graduated Aug.9 and sent to Pensacola Florida for "A School" and i got a phone call from him today to tell me he is being delayed because apparently there are other classes of sailors in front of his class so hes having to wait. well originally i was told he was going to finish "A School" by Sept.3rd so we set a wedding date for the 8th of September so we could have a wedding since we eloped by the jp originally back in Nov. we have not told our families yet. so which was the purpose of the wedding. however he did explain he had to put that request in and see if he would be granted that liberty for that weekend and be back asap since he wouldn't start classes immediately. however some of my family members who have RSVP for our event have bought plane tickets and/or are driving to this event and money has been put into the venue and dress etc. what should i do? should i cancel the date or continue on with plans? i am so stuck at the moment BC my sailor said there is a possibility of leave but I'm scared to continue and not going through what can i do to have him home for a few days he said he would put in a request and have it read to the captain to see if he was able to since he wont start classes for a few months longer than expected. does anyone have any feedback on this is there anything my sailor can do in order to be able to come home considering this wedding is so close? please anyone help me.

It is hard plan any thing when sailors are in A SCHOOL there is a lot sailors that have wait for classes to fill up before they start.

Looks like you're going to have a party without your sailor, or you and your family will be out a chunk of money.  Sorry.  Sure, they might approve the leave, but there is nothing he can do to make it happen other than submit the request and wait.

Yes, a lesson for others: You cannot trust the A schools estimated times, there are always hold periods.

Sorry to hear all the stress you are confronting, but lessons learned... no plans can be confirmed UNTIL leave is approved. I hope you can go in with your plans, but in the future you have to be extra careful... this is not a regular job where you go talk to your boss and immediately get vacations signed (or not)!
