While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Leaving for Boot Camp 4-15-13
My son is leaving for boot camp on April 15th. I am very proud of him! He is nervous and is excited as well as I! I have a lot of questions. If anyone can give us any advice on what to expect, it would be greatly appreciated

You may wish to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.
You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon behappening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

write often. they need those letters. it really helps them. this is my second son that left for the navy in February my first left last October. they both said how much they appreciated the letters. its a big adjustment for them and you. Send a calling card or two for the pay phones and stamps. I felt the first 1/2 of boot camp for me went slow. But the last for weeks went by fast. Before you know it graduation. Try and attend their graduation. Graduation was amazing. You might get a couple calls while they are in boot camp. I took my cell phone everywhere with me. When I saw that 847 area code, I jumped for joy. You will get their civilian clothes about one week after they leave. Then shortly after that you will get a letter with the graduation date. Both of my sons wanted their cell phone and underwear when I came for graduation. This navy for moms website really helped me through the boot camp. Good luck and keep positive.

So did mine...that would be cool if they were all in the same division. Let's all keep in touch and be there for each other. We can do this!! This is my son's 2nd time....he got hurt last time in week 4. It's taken so long to get him back in, but it's all worth it.

Thank you all for all your comments. It is very helpful! And yes, let's all keep in touch. When we dropped him off at the hotel (he had to be back by 8:30 pm), it was bittersweet. But our family knows that this is a very good thing for him, and it is what he wanted to do. We just want to support him as much as we can. I have already promised him that I will be writing him at least two times or more a week!
