Leaving for boot camp earlier than expected

My son was on DEP for a possible August no later than December recruitment and received a call yesterday that since someone failed the background, he leaves in 6 days! Needless to say, he is a bit unprepared. I am scared with that the amount of info he needs to memorize and loose ends he needs to tie up, that he will have a problem. He scored so high in his testing, we were sure he would be so well prepared. All of a sudden, we are both having anxiety attacks! Any words of encouragement would be appreciated!

It was a scarce ten days from when I walked into the recruiter's office until I was in boot camp.  I did fine, was selected as the Education PO to help others with the tests, and did very well.  Not much has changed since then as far as testing goes, so if he's at all sharp, he can learn it on the fly.  I did, and I was flaky as heck.

He should try his best to memorize the sailor's creed and the 11 general orders.  Work on the insignia/rank stuff, and the military alphabet if he has time.  Maybe the chain of command.  He'll be fine.

Thank you for your insight. That helps a lot. I guess both of us just need to focus our thoughts on what is important and let go of the rest!
