My son left Aug 7th from Portland Maine, we got the phone call (at midnight)stating he was there and would call again in 3 wks . Even though this has been a goal of his for a long time, I"m still having a tough time letting go.I started journaling months ago and will enjoy sharing bits and pieces from my journal in letters to him. He is a wonderful son and I know he will do great things for the Navy. I am looking forward to graduation at Great Lakes , haven't recieved any of that info yet. Looking forward to his first piece of mail. It will be a long 8 weeks. Keep writing ladies and we will be strong together.

Welcome Amy,

My son left from Portland Maine Aug 2nd. It is hard. The BOX should come to you soon. I got mine on tuesday and thought that was pretty quick.

My son also left, from Seattle, on Aug 7th.  First born of 4.  Letting go has definately been difficult and, I assume from the waves of tears, will continue to be for quite some time.  My son has wanted this for a few years and has definately prepared himself mentally and physically.  Bootcamp will be the easy part...it's his chosen path beyond that that is going to test my health and my faith.  Even knowing his passion is for the greater good, like all of us moms, I'm going to miss my son! He is a man now......but will always be my 2 month premie that fought just to become part of this world.

My son left from New Orleans on August 7th for boot camp and I feel like I just lost my best friend.  I cannot stop thinking about him and what he must be feeling right now.  I have not received his box of clothes yet nor a letter, I am waitly patiently to just hear his voice on the other end of the line.
